What is Skill-Building?

When families are challenged by a loved one’s illness, skill-building is vital. It is the intentional selection, development, and deliberate practice of tools that improve effectiveness in challenging situations…and is the process of strengthening the emotional, relational, and behavioral capabilities needed to navigate caregiving with greater adaptability, steadiness, and resilience.

So, in a nutshell:

Mentorship = the relationship and the process
